The Pastoral Centre in České Budějovice is preparing for the upcoming school year 2025/2026. Course for Catechists based on the Directory for Catechesis.

According to this document, the role of the catechist in the Catholic Church is very important and lies primarily in the education and formation in faith. The catechist is a person who helps the faithful, especially children, youth, but also adults, to understand and live the Christian faith more deeply. The main tasks of the catechist include: teaching religion, preparing for the sacraments, formation in faith, collaborating with the parish, education, and formation.
The catechist is a person dedicated to serving the Church in the area of education and formation. Their role is crucial for passing on the faith to future generations and for building a vibrant Christian community.
The course will be divided into six parts, four of which will have a duration of approximately 180 minutes (Saturday divided into four 45-minute blocks). The first and last parts of the course will take place over the weekend.

We see the establishment of this course as very necessary, as there is a decrease in catechists and many laypeople are prepared to help in the Church. The course is primarily intended for our diocese, not only for new catechists but also as further education for existing catechists.
It is necessary to register for the course online via the form (HERE) and to have a recommendation from your priest in the parish. The course will take place in České Budějovice, while the weekend parts will be held in Hosín.

Applications must be submitted no later than June 30, 2025.
